The purpose of this site is to build and promote a chapter of
SOS (Secular Organizations for Sobriety, aka "Save Our Selves") in the Greater Greenville area. SOS is a nonprofit,
educational organization with one goal...sobriety. SOS is not affiliated with, nor does it denigrate, any other organization.
Again, there is only one goal...sobriety.
"Hi, I'm Mark and I'm an alcoholic." Have you heard that
before? Well, I've said those exact words many times and it is true, I am an alcoholic. I'm human and subject
to imperfections as we all are. Many of us have many personal demons which at best may cause us unhappiness and prevent
us from living up to our potential and, at worst, may lead us to illness, broken relationships, legal problems, unemployment
and so on. I have several demons myself, though alcohol is my greatest. After three days in a detox unit (self-admitted),
and with help from my physician, my psychologist and a few meetings, I have now abstained from alcohol for over four months,
but this is only a start. To paraphrase Aerosmith, "Sobriety's a journey, not a destination".
